La Belle Ancienne

Holiday house in the Languedoc, Southern France

Translation to NEDERLANDS courtesy of Peter van Velzen

La Belle Ancienne (Ancient Beauty) is nestled in the quaint hamlet of Assignan (936 AD),
built on a hill near St Chinian, in the heart of a region steeped in history, as well as wine: the Languedoc.

It can comfortably accomodate four adults, on three floors of rustic French decor,
with the addition of a new roof terrace, overlooking the vineyards and rolling hills beyond.

Exposed stonework, large wooden beams, a classic winding staircase from cellar to roof terrace,
fireplace, marble sink and original tiles preserve the antiquity and charm of its medieval character.

You gain entrance on Carriera Granda, in the oldest part of the village.

UPDATES 3 MAY 2009

La Belle Ancienne has recently been renovated and repainted with reconditioning to the bedrooms,
including a living room area with flat screen TV and DVD player.

Another beautiful house - Carriera Granda Gîte - which lies directly across the road has
been added to this site as another option or to provide addtional space for larger parties.
Carriera Granda is available from June through September 2009.
It hosts two terraces, two baths and is architecturally similar to La Belle Ancienne.

I added a slideshow of photos taken in and around the area which I am pleased to share with you.
